Dr. Chidozie Nwankwo, a front line gubernatorial aspirant in the forthcoming Anambra State 2021 Gubernatorial election, who is also the Chairman/CEO Wichtech Group has appealed to Nigerians to give peace a chance.
Speaking through his media office, Dr. Chidozie was worried with the orgy of violence spreading through many cities in Nigeria, with widespread looting, burning and killing being reported. He stated that nothing can be achieved through violence as it’s only in peace that nations prosper.
“I want to appeal to everyone to give Peace a chance. Destruction can’t birth development, rather it will take us backward further into stagnancy. Reforms can’t come through violence, and when we burn the institutions we ought to protect and reform, we end up at ground zero”.
He praised the Nigerian youths, whose voice has been “heard, loud and clear” for their resilience in their quest for good governance and better Nigeria.
“The Nigerian youths have spoken, they made a stand for the future of this nation. And as the President said, their voice has been heard and the process of reform has begun. We must now give this reform time to be actualized and I am certain the President will keep his words.”
“We do not wish to see the country burn to ashes in an endless crisis that we might not be able to control. All we want is progress, equity, fairness and justice. This is why I am appealing to you all. All these can’t come through destruction of public offices and looting of the livelihood of others. It can’t also come through, extrajudicial killings and burning and destruction of public and private facilities including police stations. Let us shun violence, embrace peace and dialogue. Let us calm down and follow the process of reform, while we continue to ignore arsonists and anarchists whom excel only in violence” Dr. Nwankwo said.
Finally, he advised them to ensure that this reforms they seek is gotten only through the ballot.
“I plead with you all to keep your interest more proactive in Nigerian politics. Have the courage and patience to get a voters card. Find a candidate who is willing to offer the reforms you seek, then mobilize your friends and queue behind that candidate in any election. We should also have greater attention in what happens in our immediate communities and Local Government which is the base of development ” Nwankwo added.
