CHRISTIAN ABURIME

Today, we intercept the rhythm of time to celebrate a special woman whose quiet strength nurtures the ebullience of our tireless Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR. Yes, Dr. Nonye Soludo, Anambra’s First Lady, marks another year of grace, and in doing so, nudges us to the truism that behind every great man stands a woman of even greater character.

The Holy Bible speaks of a virtuous woman whose worth is far above rubies, one who opens her mouth with wisdom, whose children rise up and call her blessed, whose husband praises her, and whose hands are stretched out to the poor. In Dr. Nonye Soludo, these timeless proverbial words find living flesh. She is a First Lady in essence: industrious, compassionate, dignified, and unapologetically kind.

Her support for Governor Soludo has been the invisible pillar upon which his extraordinary public service rests. In the exhausting grind of governance, the relentless demands on his time, and the weight of expectations, the First Lady has remained ever supportive in all ramifications.

Beyond the private sphere, Dr. Soludo has also carved her own magnificent legacy through the Healthy Living Initiative, a programme that has become the heartbeat of her public service. She has embarked on healthy living advocacy with the energy of a woman on a mission, teaching nutrition, hygiene, fitness, and preventive healthcare with a maternal warmth that has inspired Anambra families. Her husband, fit as a fiddle, is a living example!

Indeed, the First Lady has today become the face of wellness and motherly care in Anambra through humble, persistent, empathetic action. Time after time, hers is not some performative charity designed to impress; it is the overflow of a heart that genuinely loves and cares for the wellbeing of others.

To her children, the First Lady is the gentle anchor, the voice of wisdom, the warmth of home, the steady presence that made their father’s public life possible without sacrificing their private peace. That the Soludo children have excelled in their diverse fields is a tribute to their mother’s nurturing, her discipline, and her unwaning belief in their potential.

Without doubt, Dr. Nonye Soludo deserves our admiration and goodwill. She has given Anambra a First Lady of rare substance, one who serves without seeking applause, who gives without counting cost, and who loves without condition.

This is praying that the years ahead bring her joy as profound as the joy she has spread around. May her health remain robust, her spirit ever buoyant, and her home filled with peace. May she continue to be the crown of her husband’s achievements and the glow of her children’s hearts. And may Anambra State remain ever proud of her!

Happy birthday, Mama Anambra, Dr. Nonye Soludo.
