The emergence of deadly robbers known as ‘One Minute Boys’ in Isolo area of Lagos may have rendered economic activities in the area redundant, following their constant attacks on the residents, shop owners and markets.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the residents were practically working for the armed bandits who visited them both day and night to dispossess them of their money and valuables with impunity.

It was also learnt that the monarch of Isolo Kingdom has become helpless as efforts he had put in place yielded no results. The notorious robbers were said to have dared him and even went to his markets in the area during the day to rob traders.

However, the Police may have taken the challenge to restore safety in the area following their onslaught on the robbers.
One of the female leaders and armourer, Mrs. Joke Mojeed, 52, has been arrested by the Police and some drug exhibits were recovered from her home. She was said to have aided some of the gang members to escape during police operations in the area. Eventually, the Police were able to arrest four others including a 16-year old boy who was referred to the Juvenile Section in Yaba, Lagos.
The other suspects were Riliwan Rufai, 20, Sunday Okogbenro, 24, Ramon Taiwo, 24 and the boy referred to Juvenile Centre, Chima Owuaro.

After investigation, the suspects were charged before the Isolo Magistrates Court for conspiracy and conduct likely to cause the breach of public peace by invading Oba Isolo International Market armed with cutlasses, axes and other dangerous weapons to intimidate the traders. They were also charged for taking over Panada Street as base where they smoked Indian hemp and committed other crimes in the area.
The female leader among them, Mrs. Joke, was also charged for harbouring the ‘One Minute Boys’ and aiding their escape.
They all pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
The prosecutor, Mr. Oje Uagbale, informed the Court that the suspects and others now at large constitute nuisance and serious security threat in Isolo since their emergence. He asked the Court to remand them in custody so that peace can return to the area.
However, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Teluwo, granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
They were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail conditions. The matter was adjourned till 24th May, 2019.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the matter may likely end as the victims were afraid to bear witness in Court against the suspects because many of their members were still at large and may likely attack any witness in the matter.
