Drivers Sent To Prison For Attacking LASTMA Official

The two drivers who attacked and wounded a LASTMA official at Pen Cinema area of Agege have been sent to prison when they could not meet their bail condition.

The LASTMA official was said to have apprehended the two drivers for driving against traffic and not using his seat belts when the two suspects identified as Emmanuel Edet, 50, and Adekunle Moradeyo, 47, walked up to the official, identified as Kazeem Usman, and challenged him for arresting the motorists. They asked him to allow the motorists to go but the official refused. The two suspects were said to have beaten up the LASTMA official, tore his uniform and also hit him on the head with an object on the head inflicting injuries on him.
At that point, the LASTMA official was able to put a call across to Pen Cinema Divisional Police Officer, SP Cyril Nwobo, whO immediately dispatched his officers to the scene to arrest the two suspects.

According to Mr. Kazeem Usman, his Samsung mobile phone valued at about N45,000 was stolen during the attack.

The two suspects were later charged to Court for serious assault, stealing, willful damage and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace having committed offences punishable under Section 411 and 412 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

They were both granted bail in the sum of N300,000 with two surety each who must show evidence of tax payment and their residence verified by the court. They were both remanded in prison custody pending when they will meet the bail conditions.
When our correspondent visited Pen Cinema police station, the IPO, Sergeant Funsho Akingbehin, declined to speak and the DPO, Mr. Cyril Nwobo, was said to have gone to Area ‘G’ Police Command Ogba to see the Area Commander.
