As part of its long-standing dedication to social impact and community well-being, Dufil Prima Foods, makers of Indomie Instant Noodles, has reaffirmed its commitment to disability inclusion by partnering with the Resource Centre for the Blind to mark World Sight Day and White Cane & Safety Day 2025 with a special community outreach in Lagos.

Held at the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government Secretariat, the event carried the theme “Eye Care Everywhere” and brought together medical professionals, advocates for the visually impaired, local leaders, and members of the public for a day of advocacy, free health screenings, and empowerment activities.

In alignment with this year’s global focus on access to vision care, the outreach offered free eye tests, distribution of medicated glasses, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, and essential medications.

Representing Dufil Prima Foods, Temitope Ashiwaju, Group Corporate Communications and Events Manager, reiterated the company’s broader mission, “we are deeply committed to nourishing lives in every sense. Disability inclusion is not a one-time event, it’s a mindset. Partnering with the Resource Centre for the Blind helps us extend our impact beyond nutrition, into advocacy, empowerment, and equality.”

The event featured interactive education sessions, including a talk by Dr. Mariam Olaniyan Fashola, an ophthalmologist from the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), who spoke about the dangers of traditional remedies and emphasized that vision care should be a right, not a privilege. “Equitable access to eye care must be a national priority,” she said. “Everyone deserves the chance to see clearly and live independently, regardless of disability status or income level.”

Temitayo Ayinla, Executive Director of the Resource Centre for the Blind, highlighted the broader significance of the day, “We’re not just advocating for eye health, but for a society that sees beyond disability. Celebrating World Sight Day and White Cane Safety Day together allows us to raise awareness for both prevention and protection, for people living with vision loss.”

A symbolic highlight of the day was the donation of dozens by Dufil Prima Foods of White Canes to visually impaired attendees reinforcing the message of mobility, independence, and inclusion.

The 2025 observance of World Sight Day and White Cane & Safety Day served as a powerful reminder that inclusion starts with awareness, and thrives through action, attendees were welcomed in a supportive environment, complete with free servings of Indomie noodles, fostering both health and hospitality. Through this initiative, Dufil Prima Foods once again demonstrated its commitment to building a society where no one is left behind.
