The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District, Senator Uche Ekwunife, has restated her resolve to ensure effective distribution of projects across the communities under her Senatorial District.

Ekwunife said this on Friday at the Burial Mass of Iyom Patience Nneoma Obiegbunam, the mother of the President General of Nri Kingdom, Chief Dr Kelvin Obiegbunam, at St Mary’s Eucharist Parish Nri.

Speaking after the funeral mass officiated by the Auxiliary Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, Ekwunife noted that out of the 59 communities she represents, at least one project or the other is currently going on  in 2/3 of the communities under the Senatorial District while the remaining communities will be effectively accommodated in the next budget cycle.

Speaking further, Senator Ekwunife expressed her deepest appreciation to the people of Nri for their unflinching support to her, particularly in the last election. She noted that to whom much is given, much is expected, and reiterated her commitment to attracting dividends of democracy to every community in the District.

The Federal Lawmaker revealed that she has some skills acquisition training programme for youths in the Senatorial zone, which will commence in the next few weeks. She used the opportunity to appeal to parents whose children are involved in the destruction of public properties in the state in the guise of protest to advise their children against such behaviour as these properties being destroyed were erected for the benefit of our society.

Ekwunife appreciated the President General of the community, Chief Kelvin Obiegbunam, for the way and manner he effectively runs the affairs of the community. She prayed God to reward him abundantly and also give him and the entire Obiegbunam family the fortitude to bear the loss of their late mother.

On his part, the President General of Nri Community, Chief Dr. Kelvin Obiegbunam, appreciated Senator Ekwunife and her husband, Chief Larry Ekwunife, for joining the Obiegbunam family to mourn their beloved Mother. He thanked the Senator for showing great commitment towards the development of Nri Community as well as other communities in the Senatorial District. He restated the resolve of the entire community to stand behind her in her political journey irrespective of political and social affiliation, and asked her to put her energy towards other towns as Nri is always there for her.

In his remark, the officiating Bishop, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye thanked the Senator for being part of the Requiem Mass for the repose of late Iyom Obiegbunam. He stated that he has heard so much and have equally seen a lot of projects she has embarked on in the Senatorial District.
