The wanton violence and unending insecurity of lives and properties in some parts of Nigeria has been described as worrisome and inimical to the socio-economic development of the country.

The recent statement released by the FCDO on the level of increased insecurity in Nigeria and the list of states considered as red zone for travellers within the country, has got some prominent individuals and business organisations in Nigeria reacting over the list.

The FCDO had advised against travelling to parts of Nigeria, including Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe and riverine areas of Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa- Ibom and Cross Rivers State.

In a statement made available to the media, Ebi Ezekiel Egbe, President of Monimitchelle Sports Facility Company, lamented the dire state of security in the country. The Bayelsa state born businessman and philanthropist expressed his dismay at the seeming hopelessness of the prevailing insecurity across the country.

He particularly charged Bayelsa state governor, Doye Diri to redouble his efforts to ensure that the state is safe and conducive for business and lives of the indigenes and Nigeria, in general.

” We must stop playing politics with the future of Bayelsa state. The government must work harder to get Bayelsa off the list of the travel red zone. It is killing businesses. And it is also not good for the  image of the state. Governor, Doye Diri, must call for a stakeholders meeting urgently, ” Egbe remarked. ”

Egbe, who was obviously miffed by the worrisome situation in the state, admonished the government and well placed individuals to do better than mere rhetorics and lips services in the demand for the empowerment of the restive youths in the state.

” We must discuss Bayelsa and find a way forward for our beloved state. If the government need any professional assistance, I will be glad to offer them free of charge,” Egbe added.
