After over a decade in the comedy industry, popular comedian, Oghenerukevwe Michael Eboh aka Eboh Bomb has decided to launch his flagship solo comedy show.
Tagged ‘Sapele To The World’ With Eboh Bomb, the show is billed for May this year in the commercial town of Sapele, Delta State.
The Urhobo, Delta State native gave reasons why he took his show to Sapele.
“I am doing this show(Sapele To The World with Eboh Bomb) to encourage the youth in Sapele to embrace entertainment as an opportunity to create wealth, achieve success and deter them from any anti-social behaviour,” the comedian said adding that even as one who makes people laugh, he also owes the society the duty to correct societal ills using his jokes as tool.
“I am a professional Nigerian comedian in the business of making people happy through the creative delivery of jokes and on-stage, television and online. But while making people laugh, I use the same weapon to correct societal ills. That is why my jokes are unique. When I tell a joke about Nigerian landlords for example, people laugh, but in between, they learn some things about how landlords behave. The joke is also tailored to make the bad landlords change their ways as well as informing government authorities to step in to curb their excesses. That is the kind of comedian Eboh Bomb is.”
What does Eboh Bomb want to achieve with this show?
This was what the comedian said: The aim of show, or rather, one of the aims is to encourage youth involvement in entertainment and creation of opportunities for upcoming comedians to grow. That is why I have been in talks with officials of the Delta State government to get involved with the show in terms of sponsorship because shows like this encourage young people to embrace entertainment and in the process, reduce the crime rate in the society.”
‘Sapele To The World’ may be Eboh Bomb’s flagship show, but definitely not his first solo show.
“I have been doing my shows, after having a successful run on AY Live hosted by my boss AY. I produced my first solo show in 2019 titled “Explosive” at Festac, Lagos Nigeria. I organised another edition in 2021 in Benin, Edo State and hosted a second edition of ‘Explosives’ in 2024 in Lagos. So, yes, I have been around, but Sapele To The World with Eboh Bomb can be termed my first mega show if you will excuse me the use of the word ‘mega’, because of the resources that is being planned to go into it. That is why I am using this medium to appeal to all the potential sponsors I and my team have been in talks with to agree to be part of the show so that we all can achieve the set goals.”
Why did the comedian choose Sapele for such a big show?
“I am from Sapele and I grew up there. It comes with a lot of great memories. Having the opportunity to give back to the place where I came from has always been part of my career goals and there is no better time to do it than now. So, consider Sapele To The World as pay back for what Sapele gave to me.”
He will not reveal the names of top comedians that have agreed in principle to be part of the show.
“That is too early to let that secret out but I can assure you, that the who is who in the comedy industry will be part of the show in Sapele. Sapele will witness what she has never seen before in terms of comedy, music and dance, that I can assure you because Eboh Bomb has been a good and loyal boy to both my senior and junior colleagues in the industry, so, I am hoping that they will all assist me now that I need their assistance,” the comedian submitted.
