The Director-General/Chief Executive Officer, Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has once again affirmed his leadership’s readiness to lead Nigeria’s new drive for alternative energy exploits.

This is coming on the heels of a courtesy visit he received at the Commission’s Headquaters, Cadastral Zone in Abuja by a team from the United Kingdom.

On Friday, 5 July, members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), led by the Society’s National President, Mrs. Margaret Aina Oguntala paid the Energy boss a visit in his office even as its Manchester United Chapter prepares for its Public Lecture, Dinner and Powerhouse Stakeholders’ event slated to hold at the University of Manchester by the middle of this month.

Also during the visit, Dr. Abdullahi spoke of the Society responsible for its publication known as the Nigerian Engineer Magazine.

The Energy expert used the occasion to speak extensively on many pertinent issues appertaining the energy sector and other sundry issues.

Various questions such as the role and evolution of the Energy Commission, strategies adopted by the new leadership to achieve its vision and set target, its homegrown initiatives developed to harness and integrate research outcomes from its various centres across the country and others into the national energy framework among other questions were given robust answers.

The questions which were tailored towards ‘Energy Sector Reforms in Nigeria: Opportunities and Challenges’ were meant to elicit reactions from the driver of the all-important sector, Dr. Abdullahi to highlight his strategic plans and moves at providing the needed leadership in this regard.

The Commission’s honcho also used the opportunity to articulate his milestones in driving international collaborations and partnerships to advance Nigeria’s energy pursuits, promote the advocacy on climate change and all its concomitant variables.

Dr. Abdullahi further asserted his leadership determination to drive the national energy policy of the country as recently unveiled by The Presidency during the launch of a twin document of National Energy Policy (NEP) and National Energy Master Plan (NEMP).

This is without prejudice to capacity building and human capital development as well as gender inclusivity.
