Edo 2020 NSF Closed Camping: Team Lagos’ Sport By Sport Training Centres Released

The Lagos State Sports Commission has made public how the closed camping for Team Lagos ahead of their participation in the  Edo 2020 National Sports Festival will be managed.


The closed camping, which is taking place at three centres across the state, started on Monday and it will end on 21 March.


The schedules made available to P.M.EXPRESS Monday afternoon show centres where different sports will be holding during the camping exercise.
No fewer than 680 athletes are currently in closed camping at Agbowa Relief  Camp, Ikorodu and the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere. 


Sports such as Chess, Scrabble and Ayo will take place at the Agbowa Relief Camp Indoor Hall, while the likes of Para Powerlifting, Beach Volleyball, Dambe, Kokowa and Langa will hold at the Agowa Relief Camp field.


Strong Tower Academy will play host to Football (male and female), female teams of Basketball and Volleyball. 


Lagos State Polytechnic will host sports such as Basketball (male), Rugby, Cricket, Karate, Taekwondo, Judo, Wushu Kung-Fu, Kickboxing, Tennis, Wheelchair Tennis and Abula.


Athletes of the above mentioned sports will be housed in Agbowa.


Ojo and Ikeja will host golf, while Elegbata Sports Centre will host Hockey.
Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park, Yaba will play host to Gymnastics, Badminton, Handball, Wrestling and Boxing. Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere will host Squash, Swimming, Table Tennis, Para Table Tennis, Deaf Table Tennis, Athletics, Para Athletics and Deaf Athletics.


The National Stadium in Surulere will host Weightlifting with Epe and University of Lagos hosting Cycling and Darts respectively.


P.M. EXPRESS reports that Team Lagos will take part in 40 Sports that comprise 8 team sports and 32 individual sports at this year’s National Sports Festival in Edo State which takes place from 20th March – 2nd April.


The NSF is in its 20th edition.
The Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafaar is however looking forward to a successful and an exciting camping exercise even as he praised and commended the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu who has always supporting the Sports Commission towards the preparation for the Sports Festival.

The DG was at the Agbowa camp of the athletes on Monday to assess the facilities and to know how the athletes are holding forth on their first day in the camp.
