Edo: Governor Okpebholo Suspends Revenue Collection & Orders Arrest

The new Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced an indefinite suspension of all state revenue collections.
This order, aimed at reshaping how revenues are collected in Edo, specifically targets motor parks, markets, and other public spaces.
Governor Okpebholo has given firm instructions to the State Commissioner of Police to arrest anyone found disregarding this directive.
The announcement was made through a formal statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua.
The statement emphasized the governor’s determination to address ongoing issues and concerns surrounding revenue collection in the state.
Governor Okpebholo stated that a comprehensive review of the revenue processes is on the horizon, signaling potential changes in how funds are collected and managed in Edo State.
“The collection of revenues in the State has been suspended indefinitely. Anyone seen collecting revenues on behalf of the State Government will be arrested,” the statement read.
“The Commissioner of Police is hereby ordered to arrest anyone who flouts this directive and collects any form of revenue on behalf of the State Government.”
“The Governor will soon address the issues and concerns raised and issue new directives. Until then, no one is authorized to collect revenues on behalf of the State Government,” the statement concluded.
