Education Minister Accused Of Land Grabbing In Lekki

A Lagos-based firm, Advance Lincon Limited, has accused Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, of alleged interference in a parcel of land at Lekki Peninsula Scheme II, sparking a dispute that has now drawn the attention of state authorities.

The company, through its solicitors, ELISIO Law Office, submitted a petition dated February 16, 2026, to the Lagos State Lands Bureau in Alausa, Ikeja, complaining about what it described as unlawful interference with a property it said was validly allocated, registered, and later transferred to new owners.

At the centre of the dispute is Block 69H, Lekki Peninsula Scheme II.

Advance Lincon Limited maintained that the land was allocated to it and that its title was perfected and registered in 2014 as Number 49 at page 49 in Volume 2014G.

The firm said it possessed a Certificate of Occupancy and Letter of Allocation to support its ownership claim.

Corporate records indicate that Advance Lincon Limited was incorporated on April 8, 1999, as a private company limited by shares, with Registration Number 425594 and an address at 83 Okesuna Street, Lagos Island.

Its shares are reportedly held equally by its two directors, Omisesan Taofeeq and Babade Oluwole Adeniran.

According to the petition, the company sold the land last year to two buyers, Alhaji Muniru Ogunleye and Mr Musiliu Ademola Lawal, in a transaction it described as lawful and properly documented.

However, the dispute reportedly began when the new owners attempted to take possession and perfect their own title.

One of the buyers allegedly received a phone call from a man identified as Adeniyi Saheed Tinubu, who claimed to be acting on behalf of a director of another company said to own the same property.

Further checks, the petition stated, linked the competing claim to Lincoln Advanced Radiology Service Limited, a company incorporated on December 22, 2023, with Registration Number 7274585.

The firm operates as a radiology diagnostics centre on Hakeem Dickson Road, Lekki.

Corporate filings list its directors as Maryam Morenikeji Alausa and Olatunji Morufu Alausa, with the latter holding 75 per cent of the company’s shares and identified as a person with significant control, while Maryam Alausa holds 25 per cent.

Advance Lincon Limited argued that despite the similarity in names, both entities are distinct legal personalities.

It stressed that its incorporation in 1999 and land title registration in 2014 predate the incorporation of the radiology company in 2023 by nearly a decade.

The firm said it was unable to understand how a company formed in 2023 could claim ownership of land allocated and documented years earlier, adding that no Certificate of Occupancy or registered title had been presented by the rival entity to substantiate its claim.

The solicitors also disclosed that they became aware of a separate petition reportedly submitted to the Commissioner of Police alleging that Advance Lincon Limited lacked authority to sell the land.

The company denied the allegation, insisting its directors acted within their powers in line with corporate records.

Beyond the legal dispute, the two purchasers are said to be facing uncertainty over their investment, as development plans for the property have stalled pending resolution of the conflict.

Advance Lincon Limited urged the Lagos Lands Bureau to uphold its records and affirm the validity of the title registered as 49/49/2014G, while calling for any administrative action concerning the land to strictly follow due process and be supported by valid documentation.

Officials of the Lagos State government had yet to publicly comment on the matter as of the time of filing this report.
