The Labour Party Senatorial Candidate for Anambra Central, Senator Dr Victor Umeh OFR (Ohamadike Ndigbo), yesterday attended the 60 Years Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Celebration of St. Mary’s High School, Ifitedunu.
At the Event, which started with a Mass presided by the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev. Paulinus Ezeokafor, Senator Victor Umeh extolled the Management of the School for the massive developmental projects in the School which has transformed it into a great Citadel of Academic Excellence.
Senator Umeh seized the opportunity to commend the administration of former Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi for his thoughtfulness in the return of schools to the Church stressing that the yields have been tremendous and have raised the quality of Education in Anambra to Global Standards.
The Senator, who is the founder and sole sponsor of Victor Umeh Scholarship Foundation ( VUMEF), further emphasized that “proper Education for young ones is critical for the progress of any Nation”.
He congratulated the School on the 60th Anniversary and urged the Management to continue the good work of inculcating good morals, spiritual and academic qualities in the Students, and producing sound and decent individuals that will drive the progress of the Nation in the near future.
High points of the Event included conferment of Sacrament of Confirmation on 200 Candidates with Senator Victor Umeh as Sponsor, investiture of new Students of the College and commissioning of newly completed projects in the School.
