A news medium, which champions the socio cultural and political lives of Egbira people both in Nigeria and Diaspora, Egbiraview, has rejoiced with the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on his third anniversary in office.

Governor Bello assumed office in 27 January, 2016 as the youngest state governor in Nigeria, and since taking oath of office, he has been impacting positively on the lives of the people of the North Central state of Nigeria.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Editor-in-Chief of Egbiraview, Alhaji Damisa Suleiman told PM EXPRESS in an interview that Governor Bello has brought exemplary changes into all facets of lives of the citizens of Kogi State, adding that the dividends of democracy are physically manifested for all to see.

“The Governor Yahaya Bello led New Direction Government is sensitive and responsive to the needs of the people as it ensures that the perennial water scarcity suffered by the people of Kogi Central hitherto to his inauguration as Governor is being tackled once and for all. This the Administration achieved by embarking on the resuscitation of the Okene Water Works; a project established during the pre-independent era. To have portable water across Ebiraland, the government embarked on the resuscitation of the Okene Waterworks which involves the dredging, reticulation, expansion and provision of modern facilities so as to meet the ever-rising water needs of the people,” Suleiman said.

“Despite the fact that the project has not been officially commissioned, the Okene Water Works currently provide potable water to Okene main town, Okene Eba, Agassa, Okengwe, Adavi Eba, Ihima, Inoziomi and Kuroko Communities all in Kogi Central District. Extension to other parts of Kogi Central is ongoing as the Administration has vowed to provide every household with potable water before the end of his current tenure.

“A number of Industrial Boreholes were equally sunk across Kogi Central to temporarily cater for the needs of the people while Okene Water Works, Osara and Ekuku Dams were being fully explored so as to make water scarcity a thing of the past in Kogi Central.

“The New Direction Government has prioritized the welfare of the people, therefore, the decision to embarked on the construction of a Recreation Centre adjacent the Okene Water Works. This when completed will have 1000 seated capacity hall for social programmes, a swimming pool, children amusement park, library and other recreational facilities. Apart from the revenue generation which would in turn, be used to maintain the water project, the recreational park upon completion would generate over 1000 direct and indirect employment opportunities to the people.

“Indeed, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello has demonstrated his political will and uncommon determination to touch people’s lives in many positive ways,” he said.
