The leadership of the Ekiti State Football Association, who represented the Nigeria Football Federation, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former Governor of old Ondo State, His Excellency, Evangelist Bamidele Ishola Olumilua, in his Ikere-Ekiti country home.
The former Governor, until his death, was a sportsman; a boxer, sprinter and passionate youth developer.
The team leader, Mr. Olumuyiwa Aregbesola, commiserated with the family and described the former Governor as a great pillar of sports and youth development, having invested so much into sports and football as former Governor.
Reacting on behalf of the family, one of the former Governor’s wives, Her Excellency, Barr. Yinka Olumilua appreciate the football body for recognising the role of her late husband and gave assurances that the family will continue to support football.
She went on to advise the football association to come up with a novelty match in honour of the former Governor, which she added shall be included as part of the burial ceremony. The match is expected to be played in Ikere-Ekiti, being the hometown of the former Governor.
The Ekiti FA was also advised to write an official condolence message that would be documented in the events brochure.
The visit which lasted for 20 minutes had photo session with the Ekiti State Football Association board, the Ikere local football council, wife and immediate younger brother of the late former governor.
