Two staff of Eko Electricity Distribution Company, Eko DISCO have escaped death after they were battered by angry residents of Ola Street in Itire area of Lagos, Nigeria when they went to disconnect electricity to their homes over unpaid bill.
The victims, Emili Chucks and Okunyaso Austin, were about to climb a pole to disconnect electricity supply to the consumers in the street over accumulated bills as directed by the management when they were attacked.
P.M. EXPRESS gathered that angry residents came out and mobilized themselves to attack the victims and pulled down the ladder and sent them away after assaulting them.
Our correspondent gathered that the residents were angry that they are not supplied electricity, yet every month, the DISCO gives them outrageous bills and expect them to pay.
It also gathered that the residents complained about the epileptic power supply and estimated crazy bill in the area and they were ignored. They had vowed that they will not pay any bill until the electricity company addresses their plight. While this was going on, the victims went to disconnect the residents and they were attacked and seriously injured.
The matter was reported to the police at Itire division but when they stormed the place, those who carried the assault were no longer there.

At the Isolo Magistrates’ court where he was arraigned, he pleaded not guilty.

Oladepo was later remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri pending when he will perfect the bail.
