The Chief of Staff, Government House, Rt. Hon. Ehie Edison Esq, DSSRS, the Chairman of Ahoada East, Hon Chibudom Ezu and the Chairman of Ahaoda West, Hon. Iyekor Ikporo, held a crucial meeting with First Class Ekpeye Traditional Rulers.
The meeting reaffirmed the traditional rulers’ unwavering support for His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara’s administration and its commitment to the development of Rivers State.
The Ekpeye Traditional Council of Chiefs expressed deep appreciation to Governor Fubara for fulfilling the N200 million pledge for the construction of the Ekpeye Civic Center. The Council acknowledged this gesture as a testament to the governor’s dedication to grassroots development and the empowerment of the Ekpeye people.
In a significant development, the Ubie Council of Chiefs and representatives of the Rivers State Government have agreed to convene a follow-up meeting this week at the Ekpeye House. This meeting aims to update stakeholders and the Ekpeye people on the resolutions reached during the engagement.
Furthermore, the Ekpeye Traditional Council of Chiefs has thrown its full support behind the State Government’s plans to develop the Ubeta Gas Field.
The Council recognizes that the successful development of the project will bring immense economic benefits, not only to the Ekpeye Nation but also to Rivers State as a whole. Increased revenue generation for the state and the affected LGAs, along with job creation and infrastructural growth, are among the expected advantages of this initiative.
The Traditional Council has assured the Rivers State Government of its commitment to ensuring a peaceful and cooperative environment for the Ubeta Gas Field’s development. The Council emphasized that all discussions and progress concerning the gas field will be communicated transparently to the people at the Ekpeye House as they unfold.
The Rivers State Government said it remains committed to fostering strong partnerships with traditional institutions, local communities, and key stakeholders to drive sustainable development across the state.
Additionally, in the spirit of unity and development, the Council rescinded the suspension of the Ubie Consultative Assembly, paving the way for further engagements and collaboration within the Ekpeye nation.
