On Thursday, Distinguished Senator Uche Ekwunife (Iyom), represented by a delegation led by a Former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry Anambra State, High Chief Barr. Ken Arinze, condoled with the Traditional Ruler of Nanka, Igwe Godwin Ogochukwu Ezeilo during the burial of his Sister, Late Mrs Fidelia Nwanneka Ezeokoli.
Conveying the Senator’s message of condolence to the family, High Chief Ken Arinze noted that the Senator is deeply saddened by the demise of the deceased, and would have been physically present to condole with the Igwe and his family, if not for her official engagements in the National Assembly. He prayed God to grant the departed eternal rest and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Appreciating the delegation, Igwe Ezeilo described Senator Ekwunife as a woman who has remained in touch with her roots in Anambra South Senatorial District inspite of the fact that she is married outside the Senatorial District. He noted that the Senator has shown great concern towards the development of Nanka community particularly in the area of curbing the erosion menace which has remained a major developmental challenge to the people of the community.
The Traditional Ruler further noted that the people of Nanka regard Senator Ekwunife as their beloved daughter due to her immense contributions to the Old Aguata Union (OAU) as well as her gaint strides as a Senator of the Federal of Nigeria, representing Anambra Central Senatorial District. He noted that OAU bestowed on her the pretigious title of NNEDIORANMA AGUATA due to her contributions towards the development of the socio-cultural union. He prayed for God’s blessings upon the Senator and wished her success in all her endeavors.
Also in the delegation were the Former Commissioner for Women Affairs, Lady Henrietta Agbata, Former Accountant General of Anambra State, Mrs Helen Nwaeri, Former Chairman ASUBEB, Dr Rose Nwankwo, the PDP Chairman, Awka South LGA, Chief Emma Odum, Awka South Coordinator Senator Uche Ekwunife Campaign Organization, Onyi Nwokeke, the Legislative Assistant to the Senator, Mrs Ifeyinwa Chinwuko and others.
