The Transition Committee Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra state, Hon. Chimezie Obi, has described the Councilors of Ekwusigo as the best crop of councilors in all the 21 local government areas of the state.

Obi, who made the description while granting an exclusive interview to our correspondent in his office at Ozubulu, said his councillors were the best form of team players especially as they see eyeball to eyeball in all issues of grassroots development.

He said no form of acrimony or rancour existed amongst them; instead he mentioned that the level of cooperation and understanding between him and his councilors was second to none because the councilors according to him, were proactive and very responsive to issues of rural development, which he said made his job as the TC Chairman a lot easier.

He said, ” I thank God for the gift of my councilors. The councillors of Ekwusigo local government are the best in the whole of Anambra state. I can say that repeatedly anywhere, anytime, any day. They come to work everyday including Sundays”.

“Fortunately for me, 99.9% of them are always punctual to duty. It is about few minutes before 6pm and they are still with me in the office discussing the betterment and well-being of Ndi-Ekwusigo. So I must thank God for the gift of my councillors. In fact, words can not express how dedicated they are to duty. ”

The TC Chairman, who told our correspondent that there are 14 Councillors representing the various wards in Ekwusigo, maintained that the Councillors have articulated the most pressing felt needs of the people and presented to the local government authority for onward attention even though he stated that Ekwusigo has myriads of problems ranging from roads, erosion devastations and a host of others.

Obi said in spite of the aforementioned problems, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has promised to tackle them head-on; adding that the councilors of Ekwusigo were equally engaged in carrying out empowerment programmes where he said the poorest of the poor in Ekwusigo were being identified and empowered with economic skills for productivity.
