Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his wife, Dr (Mrs). Nonye Soludo, cast their votes today at the Ofuiyi Polling Unit 002 in Anambra State during the gubernatorial election.

The couple arrived at the polling station in the early afternoon, highlighting their commitment to participatory democracy.

At the polling unit, Governor Soludo was welcomed by election officials and a gathering of enthusiastic supporters, all eager to witness the democratic process in action. After completing the necessary verification and authentication, the Governor and his wife proceeded to cast their votes, a gesture that emphasized the importance of civic engagement in shaping the future of the state.

In his remarks following the voting process, Governor Soludo described the election atmosphere as peaceful and well-organized. He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its efforts in ensuring a smooth electoral process, noting that the early reports from various polling units indicated minimal disruptions and a high level of voter enthusiasm.

“We are witnessing a true expression of democracy today. It is heartening to see citizens coming out to exercise their right to vote in such a peaceful environment,” the governor stated. He urged all eligible voters to participate actively, emphasizing that every vote counts in determining the direction of the state.

The Governor hinted on incidents of vote buying,. especially in Nnewi South Area, expressing optimism that his party will have the day at the end of the entire process.

The peaceful environment at the Ofuiyi polling unit was mirrored across many locations in Anambra, with reports from observers indicating a largely controlled voting process free from the significant interruptions often seen in past elections. Voters expressed optimism about the prospects of a fair and credible election.

As the voting period continues, Governor Soludo reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the electoral process remains transparent and that the electoral laws are strictly upheld. With citizens casting their votes for the next leadership of Anambra State, the focus remains on fostering a climate of peace and integrity throughout the election day proceedings.

However, as results begin to trickle in from various polling units across the state, indications are that the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA has taken an early lead while other results are still being expected.
