Emir of Kano Endorses Checkers Custard As Highly Nutritionally Fortified Food

The Emir of Kano, Alh. Aminu Ado Bayero on Tuesday said, malnutrition, which has threatened the country for decades, could be addressed through the use of rich and multi-vitamin consumables, such as Checkers custard.

According to him, the product used to be in every home in the past before unfriendly economic factors led to its disappearance in the market but bounced back with additional flavors, enriched with more vitamins essential for both infants, expectant and breastfeeding mothers, as well as those, who are in dire need of highly nutritionally fortified foods.

He said, with the information available on varieties of the products, malnutrition will be a thing of the past as such, urged makers of Checkers to further subsidize their products, so as to make it more affordable and not to relent in fortifying their foods with more essential vitamins that are needed for proper growth.

“No doubt, we have known this company for long as well as their contributions not only in Kano, but Nigeria at large.

“Your products were well known and was in every home in the past but suddenly disappeared, due to some reasons. We are happy the product is back with even new flavors enriched with lots of vitamins. The checkers products as we can see, will go a long way to address malnutrition amongst children, as well as pregnant women.

“As we all know, we are living at a time when children suffer from malnutrition right from birth or immediately after birth due to poor diet by the pregnant mothers or inability to provide the child with highly nutritional food.

“We hope you sustain the tempo at providing more products that will bridge the malnutritional gap so that we can have more healthy children, the breastfeeding mothers, the expectant mothers and the society at large. I was also informed about your gesture during your last visit to the palace, it is highly commendable and I wish you more growth”, the Emir added.

In his remark, the Branch Head, Northern Nigeria, Checkers Africa, Mr. Ratheesh Nambiar, said they were at the Palace to pay homage and introduce to his Highness, the Emir of a key commercial and economic Centre in Northern Nigeria and Africa as a whole their product.

Ratheesh noted that the product, which has been in the market for almost six years now is for both children and adults alike with four flavors now in the market, ranging from Banana, Chocolate, Vanilla and the three-in-1-milk custard.

“It is very nutritious and you will appreciate this fact once you have a taste of it and most of the people in Kano are now patronizing us,” he added.

Ratheesh also disclosed that school pupils are presently enjoying the nutritious products in their various schools as officials of the Company visit various schools and strategic junctions to give people a treat.
