Empowerment Company’s Staff Docked For Using Centre’s N1.7m To Empower Self

A 30-year old staff of Extra Edge Centre for Economic Empowerment company,  Ibrahim Alimi, has landed in trouble for allegedly tempering with the company’s money by empowering self with N1.7m in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Alimi has been arrested and charged for allegedly stealing the money.
The incident happened on 24th June, 2024, at the company’s office located at Council Bus Stop, Idimu area of Lagos, where Alimi was employed as a staff.
According to the Police,  the suspect dishonestly took the money without the consent of the management only for the management to discover the alleged fraud when they conducted an internal audit.
The matter was reported to the Police at Idimu Division and the suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over his alleged conduct.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable for allegedly stealing the money and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence, which attracts several years of imprisonment.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.K. Dosumu-Uthman, granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
