Emzor Pharmaceutical, leading pharmaceutical company in Africa and Nigeria through one of its sponsored events and CSR has once again produced a player for the Nigeria women’s national team, the Super Falcons.

Emzor in the last eight years has sponsored the Football4girls tournament, an initiative of Asisat Oshoala Foundation and first class sports management company.

The Emzor sponsored event Kick started Football4girls, a soccer tournament aimed at giving marginalized school girls access to education and sports in 2016.

Through this event, players such as Rashidat Ajibade of Athletico Madrid, Chidima Okeke of Athletic Femeni of Mexico , Monday Gift of Tenerife Spain and Adugbe Olamide of Napoli Igali have moved to Europe.

Little did anyone know that Emzor proud sponsored of the Football4girls event has helped to lift the lives of these girls to the next level where scouts come to the event to scout for players abroad and they also have the chance to play for the national team.

Just last year, another talent was discovered through the Emzor/Asisat Oshoala Football4girls tournament, Janet Semenya. She is the rising star at the moment.

She was the leading goal scorer at the 2023 Emzor Football4girls tourney, and few months later, she has joined Nigeria women’s premier league side, Nasarawa Amazon and is now getting called up into the Nigeria senior women’s national team, the Super Falcons of Nigeria.

Super Falcons interim coach, Justin Madugu has listed six foreign-based professionals and Nigeria womens pre-season league highest goal scorer Janet Semenya who currently plays for Nasarawa Amazon for Nigeria’s upcoming friendlies against Algeria.

Semenya in 2020 had represented Hallelujah Queens of Ikeja, Lagos, a youth football club, she later moved to Asisat Oshoala Academy girls on loan where she scored 28 goals in 12 games. She was also the leading goal scorer for the Nike sponsored academy during the Federation Cup until she moved to Nasarawa Amazon.

The overseas stars called up by Madugu are goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie (Paris FC), captain Rasheedat Ajibade (Atletico Madrid), Deborah Abiodun (University of Pittsburg), Monday Gift (UD Tenerife) and Esther Onyenazide (Hapoel Katamon).

The players will prosecute the friendlies alongside their home-based counterparts.

The friendlies are slated for October 26 and October 29.

The two matches will be played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

Nigeria and Algeria will use the friendlies to prepare for the 2024 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
