For almost 10 days, #EndSARS protests embarked by Youths across the States in
Nigeria may have taken another dimension following the demand to #EndCorruption
as championed by the youths in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the protests, which had moved on with greater demands
that seek to end injustice, corruption in public offices, hardship, insecurity
and bad governance, have been added to show that the moves are a consensus
agitation to revive Nigeria and set it right.
At Isheri Olofin area of Alimosho Local Government area of Lagos State, a group
of youths at the weekend blocked Idimu/Igando Expressway, clamouring for an end
to impunity by the leaders not only for the Police but the entire system which had
been embedded in corruption.
The protest, which was massive, and which saw them move through major
roads and finally converged at Isheri roundabout, where prominent people
identified with the struggle.
Among the speakers was a social critic and public affairs analyst, Ambassador
Ezewele Abionanojie Cyril, who noted that fighting for Police reform in an
extremely corrupt system is tantamount to chasing the rat while the house is on
fire.
Ambassador Cyril hailed all the Nigerian youths and other protesters for
their doggedness, unity and sense of purpose. He admonished that the protests
should demand for a total purging of the land of corruption and death sentence
for corrupt public officers to serve as deterrent.
He noted that the people have been pushed to wall due to the suffering as
a result of bad leadership and since the youths have woken up, the end of
leadership by rogues in Nigeria has come.
