A 16-year old girl reportedly confessed that she was not abducted and raped by her lover, a 22-year old Everest Nweke, as being alleged hinting that she enjoyed it and willingly followed him after suspecting that she was pregnant in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that her lover, Nweke, was arrested after he eloped with the victim who was later rescued in Ebonyi State where he took her.

The incident happened at Wahab Street in Ago Okota, Lagos where the victim resides with her brother, one Emmanuel Ogba, before she was taken away from her school in the same Okota area of Lagos.

The victim also denied that she was 16-year old against what her brother claimed was her actual age; claimed that she was18. However, the birth certificate presented before the court stated that she was 16.
The police found him culpable and Nweke was charged before the Isolo Magistrates Court for abduction with the intention of engaging the victim in sex romps and taking her to Ebonyi State from Lagos without the consent of her guardian.
When the victim was rescued, a pregnancy test was conducted on her which showed negative as such she was not pregnant as had been suspected.
P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the victim was brought to Lagos by her brother before she met the young man; they became lovers and were constantly having sex before they planned to elope.
The incident was then reported to the police who trailed the lovers and eventually rescued the victim. Nweke was then arrested and charged to court where he pleaded not guilty. He was said to have told the court that the girl in question was his lover and they loved themselves.
The prosecutor, Oje Uagbale, told the Court to give a short adjournment for the police to prove that the defendant actually committed the offence.
Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Teluwo, granted Nweke bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect the bail condition.
The matter has been adjourned till 22nd March, 2019.
