The Founder/Executive Director of Economic Strategic Growth And Development Initiative of Africa, ESGADIA, Maazi Obinna Agommuo, a native of Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State and resident in Abuja, has petitioned the Director General of State Security Services over alleged abuse of executive power and assassination attempt on his life in an unlawful collaboration between the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave Umahi and Chief Maduagwuna of the Ebonyi State Command.

Earlier, Maazi Agommuo said he had cause to bring up a petition through his counsel, C.E AGBITI & CO by a correspondence dated 7th January, 2020 and received at the DSS headquarters in Abuja the same date, against his unlawful incarceration at the DSS facility at the behest of the Governor of Ebonyi State. He said that with further turn of event, he was further constrained to write to the DSS to come to his rescue on the grossly compromising position of the Ebony State Director of the DSS, Chief Maduagwuna, who the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has virtually turned into his hatchet man in order to satisfy his ego.

According to Maazi Agommuo, the petition became necessary as the unlawful collaboration has now become life threatening to him and clear attempt on his life over the Governor’s reading of a legitimate business intervention proposal submitted to him, over which the Governor invited the State Director and gave him directive to lock him and three others in the DSS custody in Abakaliki.

In the petition made available to P.M.EXPRESS, Agommuo said, “Even as the matter remains a purely civil transaction, the Director of DSS, despite his subsequent finding in that regard, could however not resist the Governor’s executive outlawry and muster courage to advise the Governor otherwise as we were bundled into DSS custody for over a month, after which a trumped up charge was brought against us. It took the intervention of Court for us to be released from custody”.

“The Governor knows he has no case against me or GES but rather than own up to the executive blunder he made by ordering our arrest, they tried to pull various strings including persuading me to deny GES while I was in prison custody. So a lawyer, who coincidentally is working in the Law Chamber of Roy Umahi, the immediate elder brother of the Governor, was sent with a new notebook to meet me in prison and tried hard to convince me to write an apology letter to the Governor if I must be set free. A proposal I dumped like a bad habit. If I had done that, then we all would have been summarily convicted and sentenced.”

“The puzzle that keeps gnawing at my heart is why would a mere business proposal for which no money was demanded of the Governor nor none exchanged hands, should warrant such arbitrary action of the Governor to the extent of wanting to take a human life in a democratic society as ours “Maazi Obinna Agommuo said.

Maazi Agommuo is therefore pleading for the urgent intervention of the Director General of State Security Service, Mr. Yusuf Magaji Bichi, over the complicity stemming from the Governor’s directives and way the DSS personnel detailed to watch over them sneak in at night. He said of greater concern is the boastful claim by the Director, Chief Maduagwuna, that nothing will happen if he dies in their custody.
