A renowned Igbo leader and Onyendu of Ejigbo, Eze Dr. Alex Sunday Nwoye, has sent a congratulatory message to Chief Leonard Okafor, popularly known as Oba Ojoto, on his victory as the newly elected President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State Chapter.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the election, held on 6th April, 2026, was a significant milestone for the socio-cultural organization, and Oba Ojoto’s emergence as president marks a new era of leadership for Ndigbo in Lagos.
In his statement, Dr. Nwoye, who also holds the title of Bobaselu of Ejigbo, described the election as “free, fair, smooth, colourful, and peaceful,” noting that the process reflected the true will of the people.
He praised the electoral committee led by Mr. Calistus Odoemena for conducting a transparent and successful election, which he said has restored confidence in the internal democracy of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos.
Eze Nwoye, who is also known as Ochiri Ozua in Uga town, Anambra State, described the election of Oba Ojoto as “a right step for Ndigbo,” adding that the new president will bring his wealth of experience as a former leader in Alaba International Market to unite and restore peace in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State.
He congratulated Oba Ojoto and his team, including Nze Edwin Egboka (Eze Eziokwu) as Deputy President, Chief Princess Nkem Igwe as Women Leader, and Chief Mike as Secretary, urging them to work as one family for the progress of Ndigbo.
Eze Nwoye also extended his congratulations to Chief Solomon Ogbonna and Chief Sunday Ossai for promoting peace and creating the enabling environment that allowed the election to take place without rancour.
He urged other members of the new executive to show loyalty and give maximum support to President Oba Ojoto, warning that bickering and division could hinder the progress of the leadership and derail the expectations of Ndigbo.
Nwoye emphasized the importance of unity and cooperation in Ohanaeze, appealing to all members to pray for the success of the new administration. He noted that the new leadership has a big task ahead — to heal wounds, reconcile factions, and restore peace in Ohanaeze.
The congratulatory message from Eze Nwoye is seen as a significant endorsement of Oba Ojoto’s leadership, reflecting the confidence of critical stakeholders in his capacity to lead Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos forward at a crucial time.
As Ohanaeze Ndigbo moves forward under Oba Ojoto, the new administration is expected to build on the organization’s strengths, promote unity among members, and engage constructively with the Lagos State Government and other ethnic groups for the welfare of Ndigbo.
He commended Chief Ubah for his sportsmanship by declaring support for Oba Ojoto and his wise advise to him.
Eze Nwoye urged Oba Ojoto not ignore Chief Ubah’s advice for unity to save Ndigbo in Lagos from evil jobless or so called evil leaders
Eze Nwoye reiterated that the task before the new leadership is challenging, but with the support, prayers, and collective effort of all members, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State can achieve stability, progress, and renewed respect under President Oba Ojoto. “This is the time for all hands to be on deck,” he concluded.
