It was pomp and pageantry on Sunday, 26th January, 2025 at the Ijegun palace of the Chairman Council of Ezendigbo Lagos State, Eze Chika Nwokedi, as dignitaries converged to mark the 50th birthday celebration of his amiable wife, Ugoeze Dr Tessy Nwokedi.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the event attracted dignitaries from within and outside Lagos, who came to celebrate her.
Some of the dignitaries included members of Council of Ndieze, Cabinet Chiefs, Igbo Speaking Community, members of the Igbo Buru Otu Association, friends, relations and well-wishers from other ethnic groups including senior Police officers and journalists.
Guests were entertained with assorted choice drinks and food to satisfaction with ambiance spiced with good music including Igbo masquerades, which were also there to entertain the guests.
Dignitaries present were full of praises for both Eze Nwokedi and his dear wife, Ugoeze, because of their love and kindness to humanity. Many said that they were there to give them deserved honour and to pray for long life and prosperity for the family.
An excited Eze Nwokedi said that he was happy because he was celebrating his wife when she is still alive not when she is no more. He described the wife as his pillar, who had the vision that they should relocate from where he was paying N90,000 rent in Ejigbo to Ijegun where he paid rent of N240,000 annually and ended up becoming a landlord with many houses in the same Ijegun.
“I trust, love my wife and will continue to celebrate her because she is a woman of God right from birth, who gave a vision and it came to pass” Nwokedi said.
He stated that he vowed that if his wife clocks 50 years, he will do an elaborate celebration to honour and celebrate her because she has been his pillar and stood by him when there was little.
Eze Nwokedi explained that he will be marking his wife’s birthday yearly but will be marking elaborate birthdays for her every five years in order to continue to celebrate her.
The wife, Ugoeze Dr Tessy Nwokedi, said that she was amazed about the birthday because she never expected the number of the guests that came to honour her.
“I am overwhelmed and speechless and this has become another turning point in her life” she said.
She explained that her 50th birthday meant a lot to her and she will dedicate her life more to the work of God to appreciate Him as well as render more service to humanity while equally slowing down to rest more having clocked her jubilee age.
She expressed gratitude to her husband and the guests that attended the event while she prayed that God should continue to bless them.
The climax of the event was the cutting of her birthday cake and giving of gift items to the guests by the celebrant and her husband.
Some of the guests described Ugoeze Tessy Nwokedi as a unique and humble woman, who gives her husband peace of mind. Chief Sunny Akpaoyibo described Ugoeze as a good woman, very supportive, open minded, caring, tolerant and having the fear of God.
He prayed that God will continue to bless her with long life and good health.
