Ezendigbo in Ijegun/Ijedodo kingdoms, Eze Chika Nwokedi has inaugurated Council of Chiefs to pioneer the affairs of the Igbo in his kingdoms in Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the 16-man council of chiefs was inaugurated on 19th March,2022, alongside their wives at the palace of Eze Nwokedi at Ijegun, and was attended by dignitaries within and outside Lagos with the confirment of Chief Emeka Onwukaobi as the traditional Prime Minister,(Onowu) of Ijegun/ Ijedodo Kingdoms.
Others included: Chief Moses Ikechukwu Nwokedi , Anagba Onyeisi Egbe Chiya Anayoro yan Mgbo, Chief Obi Okoro, Obinwanne, Eng.Chibundu Ezeghalike,Ofiafuragu, Chief Chika Ikeoma, Agbarusia Ngene, Chief Godwin Ananeme, Ofor Ndi-Igbo, Chief Owuh Anthony, Ikuku Oma.
The rest were: Chief Ifeanyi Augustin Chisorom Igwegbe, Mmaduka Aku, Chief Martins Chimudili Chikezie, Akunebu, Chief Chisimdi Ezendiokwere, Afunwaelotanna, Chief Chukwuemeka Ogbuka, Ogbuefi Chinyelugo, Chief Arinze Okpara Isaac,Ugochinyere, Chief Felix Uche Oguekemma, Agbala nze, Chief John Ngwa, Ije God, Chief Mazi Ifeanyi Ihionu, Nwoke mere Ibeya and Hon.Chief Mrs Rufina Mary Emeduruowa, Ochiora 1 of Ijegun, Ijeododo Kingdom”.
After the official inauguration of Chiefs at the palace, the event party was moved to the popular football arena in Ijegun community, where they were officially inaugurated into the cabinet of Eze Dr. Chika C. Nwokedi.
Those in attendance, who witnessed the event, were the Ezendigbo, Lagos State, Eze Christian Nwachukwu, Ezendigbo, Eze Lawrence Nnamdi Eze, Ezendigbo of Alimosho, High Chief Cyril Sunday Eze, President General Igbo speaking community, Chief Garu Bamidele Shobaloju of Ikotun, who was the guest speaker at the event.
He noted that Eze Nwokedi captured the minds of people enough to be made King of the two communities as well as being wanted by all. He urged the newly inaugurated Chiefs to take the mantle accorded responsibly and assume the responsibilities attached to their new status with dignity.
Speaking during the event, the Igbo Speaking Community, Chief Eze described Nwokedi as a good man and a great philanthropist too.
“Nwokedi is the King of two communities, “Ijegun and Ijeododo” , both communities endorsed him as their king and as such he was confirmed to rule those two communities.”
Eze Nwokedi expressed his happiness over the success of the event as well advised the new Chiefs of his cabinet to continue to support his good cause towards giving hope to the hopeless.
The event climaxed with the hosting of the widows on Tuesday March 22, 2022, at the palace, where Eze Nwokedi, as promised, gave them some food items.
He also promised to always remit to the widows whatever is given to them by individuals or government through him. He told the widows present that he got some support from his association members too (Ndi Igbo Buru Otu Association of Nigeria) to bless them with the little available and will always see to their welfare monthly by virtue of his position as Ezendigbo of Ijegun Ijeododo Community.
The Widows applauded the Eze for his kind and humanitarian gesture as they also prayed earnestly for his well being.
