Eze Hyacinth Ohazuruike Buried In Home Town Amidst Tears

The leader of Ndigbo a.k.a Ezendigbo in Lagos State, Eze Hyacinth Nwabueze Ohazulike (OON), has been buried  amigsts tears in his home town, Ihiala, Anambra State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Eze Ohazuruike died on 20th April, 2025, in his Lagos home after a protracted battle with an undisclosed illness.
He was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Association of Ndi Eze Ndi Igbo in Diaspora and its pioneer President. He was also the founder of Eze Udo in Lagos State.
There has been reactions over the passing of Ohazuruike, who many described as a good Ambassador of Ndigbo, who worked in several ways to uplift Ndigbo in Lagos State.
Among those who expressed shock over the death of Ohazuruike was the Eze Ndigbo Ibeju Lekki LGA, Eze Chris Offia, who described Eze Ohazulike as a humble leader who put the interests of his people first before personal and sectional interests. Eze Offia explained that the late Ohazuruike defended the interest of Ndigbo with all the resources at his disposal.
Eze Offia said, “Eze Ohazulike will be remembered for his philanthropism, empathy, kindness and willingness to speak the truth to power*.
Speaking in the same vein was the first elected President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Chief John Uche, who said that he received the news of the death of Ohazuruike with shock and noted several significant roles Ohazuruike played for Ndigbo in Lagos State.
Uche stated that the contributions of the late leader of the Igbo in Lagos State, Nigeria and the world indeed will continue to be cherished by all who crossed his path.
He remembered his empowerment at Ladipo Market, where he gave huge sums of money to indigent traders and set up businesses for them without asking for refund.
Chief Uche prayed God to grant the departed eternal rest and also give his immediate family and his loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.
The National Coordinator of Ndigbo Media Forum Worldwide, Rev. Paul Eze, also expressed shock and described late Eze Ohazuruike as a true leader, who touched the lives of many people especially Ndigbo in Lagos State.
He stated that he will be remembered for his contributions to the progress of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Igbo Speaking Community including other Igbo socio- cultural organizations.
Eze Hyacinth Ohazuruike was survived by many wives and children including grand children. Though he has been buried according to his wish, no date has been announced for the proper burial by the family.
