Eze Ikonne Endorses Uche Ogah As Ohafia Reinforces Support For Him

The respected ruler of Aba, His Imperial Majesty, Eze Dr. Isaac. A. Ikonne (JP), has given his royal blessings to the duo of Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah and Rt. Hon Martins Azubuike, the governorship candidate and running mate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State.

The respected King who coincidentally is from Ngwa, the home base of the seating governor and candidate of the PDP, said his people are in support of the candidature of Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah and his running mate, Rt. Hon Martins Azubuike, because in choosing his running mate, Ogah chose the right person.

Dr. Ikonne spoke at the occasion of his 90th birthday celebration and 46th anniversary of his coronation in Aba amidst cheers for Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah.

His Imperial Majesty who was welcoming Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah to the event, thanked him for choosing “a true son of Ngwa” as his running mate. He assured him of his total support and that of Nde Ngwa. Because according to him, “Rt. Hon Martins Azubuike is a man of moral clarity, integrity and intelligence. He will support you and our people will support you for this singular act”

Speaking further he said “we will support you because you made the right choice in choosing your running mate. Rt. Hon Martins Azubuike is a good son of Ngwa, he is mentally and morally sound and our people are happy that you chose him. We have no doubt that you both will do well. This crowd of people you are seeing here is a testament to how popular you are amongst our people. The massive turnout today signifies the need for change and the people will do the needful at the poll”

His Imperial Majesty admonished Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah against joining other candidates who may result to violence in their quest to win the election. In his words, “Don’t join them in violent campaign, God and our ancestors will see you through. God is with you, our people support you and our ancestors support you” .

He thanked Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah and his entourage for coming to honour him on the occasion of his 90th birthday celebration and the 46th anniversary of his coronation.

Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah said he was at the event to honour His Imperial Majesty and thanked him for his warm reception. Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah eulogized Eze Ikonne as “a man of substance who has shown capacity and love for Abia Rejoice”

Other political leaders present includes; Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the first Executive Governor of Abia State and the current Minister for Science and Technology, Barr. K. C. Ugbaja, the Director General of Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah Campaign Council, Dr. Marc Wabara, a former bank chief executive and the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Abia South, Chief Mascot Kalu, the House of Representatives candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Aba North and South, Elder Emma Adaelu, chief Obasi Uba, amongst other dignitaries.

Earlier in the day, the Ohafia South Constituency hosted Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah and his running mate to a grand reception at their civic hall, where they once again reinforced their support for him and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). Three days before then, representatives of Ohafia General Assembly, sent their message through his running mate, assuring him of the commitment of all clans in Ohafia to work towards his victory at the polls.

Ohafia South constituency which is made up of Okamu Ward, Ohafor Ward, Ebemoha Ward,

Isiama Ward and Ania ward, assured Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah of their hundred percent (100%) votes in the 2019 governorship election.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwosu, said his people have resolved to deliver him and all the APC candidates in the coming election.

The host, Ambassador Peter Okwara and his twin brother, Ambassador Paul Okwara told Dr. Ogah and his entourage that “the crowd of people who gathered to receive him, “all came in short notice because they have resolved to change the failed PDP government in Abia State”

Highlight of the day was the official defection of top political actors from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ohafia, to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The defectors were led by an APGA chieftain, Chief Caleb Okwara (popularly known as pastor osita) who spoke on behalf of 6 decamping Ward Chairmen and over two thousand people who declared for the All Progressives Congress, in support of Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah.

Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, who was dressed in Ohafia traditional attire, expressed joy over his adoption as their candidate. He reiterated the earlier promise he made to the people through his running mate, assuring them that in two years under his administration every part of Abia State will experience good governance; Ohafia inclusive.
