The organizers of the Bet9ja Ekiti Football League has released guidelines for registration into the 16 teams league, after the last matches of the 2nd round were played on Monday.

In line with its desires to uplift football in the state, the organizers of the league which is sponsored by Nigeria’s foremost betting company, Bet9ja, have also provided the 16 teams who have qualified to play in the league beginning Tuesday 23rd July, 2019, with the opportunity to beef up their teams and register new players, as long as the players are not currently playing in the NNL or NLO.

According to a statement released by the league committee and made available to the press by Ayodeji Okunuga, Media Officer of Ekiti FA, this new opportunity would allow talents scouted during the play offs, but whose teams crashed out of the league to team up with other teams and thus add more competitive edge to the main league.

“It is only fair that those talents whose teams did not make it into the league proper, have another chance to continue their careers development through further participation in the league.

“Especially now that the technical committee has been strengthened and charged with the responsibility of working with invited scouts in bid to discover and harness the talents of the lads for Ekiti football. “

The 16 qualified teams will play their league matches in Bet9ja branded jerseys that will be made available by the organizers. The league phase will see the 16 teams pooled into 4 groups of 4 teams each. And matches will be played on home and away basis across different venues in the state.

Meanwhile, the statement further revealed that qualified teams are expected to pay  fifty thousand naira registration fee(N50,000). The payment for registration would be from Wednesday 26th June to Tuesday 2nd July 2019.

It added that for teams who could not meet up with payment and other logistics needed to  play in the league proper, their slots would be put up for sale to any interested team that can afford it for seventy thousand naira (70,000) from Wednesday 3rd to Friday 5th June.

Teams are expected to return their registration forms, players licences and other documents from Monday 8th to Friday 12th July. It added that late submission of documents shall attract a fine of N20,000, from Monday 15th and ends on Friday 19th of July
