A suspected fake Medical Doctor, Ola Oluwa, has been arrested and charged in Oyo State for allegedly administering wrong Saline drugs on a patient, Adekunle Badmus, which killed him in the process.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Mercy Clinic and Maternity, Idi-Aro, Ibadan, Oyo State.
He has been charged before Magistrate Court in Ibadan for the alleged murder under the Criminal Laws of the State, which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
However, the Presiding Magistrate, A.T. Oyediji, did not take the defendant’s plea, rather he ordered that he be remanded in Agodi correctional facility in Ibadan, pending legal advice from the Office of Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Opeyemi Olagunju, had earlier told the Court that the defendant had on 20th February, 2024, at about 10:00 am, at Mercy Clinic and Maternity, Idi-Aro, Ibadan, caused the death of one Adekunle Badmus, 45, unlawfully.
Olagunju said that the defendant administered saline drugs on the patient without lawful justification.
The prosecutor said that the offence is contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Sections 319 and 484 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000. While Section 484 stipulates three years imprisonment for an offender, Section 319 prescribes death sentence.
The defendant was remanded in custody pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
