A commercial driver, Gody Chikwogwu, lost his Suzuki mini bus after a gang of robbers, who had posed as Lagos State Government Task Force officials, snatched the vehicle and escaped under the false pretence of taking it to the office at Oshodi area of Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Ladipo Bus Stop along Agege Motor Road.
However, the whole thing got exposed after the driver went to the Task Force office to get his vehicle with registration number, FKJ 712YA. At the office, it was discovered that there was no such record and the vehicle was not brought to the Task Force office. It was then that it became clear to the owner that his vehicle was snatched by armed robbers.
The victim then wrote a petition to the Commissioner of Police who detailed the Police intelligence team to fish out the robbers. One of suspects, Fatai Jimoh, who was said to have jumped into his vehicle and removed the vehicle key before he brought other gang members in Police uniform, was trailed as they pretended to be working for Task Force and drove off the vehicle to an unknown place.
The 27-year old Jimoh was then arrested by the Police for interrogation. The Police found him culpable and subsequently charged him before the Ogba Magistrates Court for conspiracy and stealing the vehicle worth N1.3m.

The prosecutor, Femi Adeleye, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove that Jimoh actually committed the alleged offence.
