A 37-year old man, Mr. Jacob Otunla, who had been parading himself as a legal practitioner for several years has been arrested in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Mr. Otunla was arrested inside the court room at the Ogba Magistrates court while he was brilliantly defending his client before a Senior Magistrate.
It was gathered that the suspect was handed over to the police at Pen Cinema Division after he failed to provide evidence that he was a lawyer despite the power of advocacy presented before the court.
It was gathered that the suspect came to the court and announced his appearance for his client and then introduced self as a Barrister.
However, the Presiding Magistrate suspected his countenance and interrogated him in order to ascertain if he was actually a lawyer but he was unable to provide a good defence. Subsequently, the Magistrate ordered for his arrest; he was handed him over to the police for interrogation and further investigation.
P.M.EXPRESS scooped that he was unable to prove that he was a lawyer as he had claimed and was charged before another court for impersonation.
He pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Mr. V. Guada, informed the court that the suspect had appeared before a court and claimed to be a Barrister but had no proof after he was investigated.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 3rd September, 2018.
Some of the court officials who knew about what had happened expressed shock as they did not believe that he was fake considering the way he had carried himself at various courts.
The officials narrated that he was so brilliant to the extent that he had defeated real lawyers while defending his clients before he was eventually caught.
