Barely few days after Police operatives arrested tricycle robbers who used military uniform to enhance their operations, a fake soldier who uses military uniform to operate the restricted motorcycle (Okada) has been arrested in Lagos.

This was disclosed by the police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana who said that the suspect, Yusuf Bello was in Police custody.

He said that on 6th March, 2020, at about 0830 hours, operatives from Alagbado Police Station on enforcement of the restriction order on motorcycles along Mosalashi Bus Stop, Agege Motorway, Alagbado, intercepted one Yusuf Bello ‘m’ 38 years old, a native of Gwoza, Borno State, dressed in military uniform while carrying passengers on an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle.

Elkana explained that the suspect usually carried passengers from Apapa to Agege up to Ogun State and had been doing that for sometime before he was eventually caught.
“The suspect was arrested and the motorcycle was impounded. Pairs of the military camouflage and naval uniforms were recovered from him. The suspect was also in possession of fake military identity card.”

He said that investigation is ongoing to ascertain the source of the military uniforms and the link the suspect had with other criminal activities like traffic robbery, car snatching and among others.
He said that the suspect will soon be charged to Court after the conclusion of investigation by the Police.

P.M.EXPRESS investigation revealed that it was not only Bello that wears the military uniform to operate okada in the State as many okada riders along Abeokuta expressway ply the route with military uniforms despite the restriction of okada on that road.
