The family of a woman, Mrs. Blessing Okafor (Nee Ozoude), who was allegedly beaten to death by her husband, Mr. Stephen Okafor, is demanding justice over the way and manner their daughter lost her life.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the couple got married in 2012 and had been childless for many years after several attempts.

The deceased was said to be a native of Ngwo while the man hailed from Akpakume, both in Enugu State and they resided at the Isolo area of Lagos.

Before the ugly incident took place, the woman, Mrs. Blessing, who was said to be dealing on cosmetics at the Trade Fair complex, had been managing their marriage and never displayed signs that the husband, Stephen, had turned to a monster as a result of their being childless.

It was reported that at the later part of their marriage, the man always descends on her at the slightest provocation and had at different times turned her to a punching bag but she continued to endure the situation.

On 20th February, 2024, when the latest domestic violence took place, the husband was said to have rained fist blows and assaulted her as usual. But this time, she did not recover from the assault; Mrs. Blessing slumped under the weight of the blows and beating and remained on the floor.

The man, Stephen Okafor, seeing that his wife remained motionless on the floor, hurriedly moved her to an undisclosed hospital at Isolo, where she was merely certified by the doctors. He reportedly arranged a body bag immediately, hired an ambulance and moved her corpse down to Enugu.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that he attempted to abscond after informing the family of the deceased Blessing about her unfortunate death.

While demanding for justice over the dastardly incident, the Ozoude family said, “Without doubt, it is obvious that our daughter, Blessing, was murdered. The person brought in a body bag must have been terribly battered in a domestic violence. The swollen face and wounds all over her body were visible evidence of brutal assault”.

“This is a case of murder. We therefore, call on the Enugu State Government, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the Enugu State Commissioner of Police and relevant authorities to ensure that the needful is done immediately and that justice will be seen to be done on this matter for the sake of the soul of Mrs. Blessing Okafor (Nee Ozoude).”
