The Unachukwu Family of Umuomumu Umueze Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitolu LGA of Imo State has petitioned the Nigeria’s Chief of Air Staff and Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, over the alleged unlawful and dastardly killing of their son, Oguchi Unachukwu, by an Air Force Personnel at a checkpoint on his way to catch a flight at the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri.
It will be recalled that on 31st May, 2021, a German based 42-year old Mr. Oguchi Unachukwu, an indigene of Umuomumu Umueze Mbieri Autonomous community in Mbaitolu LGA of Imo State, who was scheduled to fly back to Germany in line with his flight schedule to Hamburg, Germany, through the Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos on the 31st May, 2021, was shot dead on his way to the Imo Airport.
On the said day, he drove to the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport Owerri to board a flight to Lagos but unfortunately was shot directly on his head by a trigger happy Air Force personnel at the Air Force checkpoint at the airport in an unprovoked execution style in front of his innocent little children and wife, who were seeing him off.
The wife and children had been in total shock over the brutal murder of Oguchi Unachukwu coupled with the nightmare, everlasting torment, torture and trauma this will bring to her and the innocent children, who watched the shooting of their unarmed father.
The Unachukwu Family, through their Lawyer, Ihediohanma F. Akponye & Co., is asking the Chief of Air Staff to fish out the Air Force Personnel for necessary disciplinary action. The family also, through their lawyer has written the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, for his intervention in the matter.
