Family of the late Special Adviser on Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives to the Lagos State Governor, Mr Ayodeji Boonyamin Tinubu has hinted of the plan to immortalise the brother they called ‘Most Valuable Player (MVP)’ in the family.
This hint was dropped by one of the junior brothers to the deceased Mr Adewale Tinubu, who is the Group Chief Executive of Oando PLC, one of sub-Saharan Africa’s foremost indigenous integrated energy groups.
Wale Tinubu revealed the plan while speaking with journalists at the candle light procession organized for Deji Tinubu by the Lagos State Sports Commission on Sunday. The late Deji was the pioneer chairman of the Sports Commission.
Wale said that the foundation becomes important for the family to do because sports is the first love of their late brother who died last Thursday after slumping during a football novelty match in Epe, Lagos.
He said : “We are going to immortalise my brother who had lived his life in sports. He loved talent discovery and young athletes and for this reason the sports foundation we are looking at will focus on discovery sports talent, nurturing and grooming them to the stardom.”
Wale said the foundation will first take care of young footballers because his brother area of interest in sports is football, adding that after football the focus will shift to athletics.
He said heads will be put together by the family to unveil the Sports Foundation very soon.
The deceased will be buried in Lagos on Tuesday.
