GREAT IMO JONATHAN
The team from Federal Capital Territory Counter Terrorism Desk Office, led by Miriam Yakubu Ikunaiye, has paid a courtesy visit to the Sa’apeyi of Garki, HRH. Dr. Usman Nga Kupi, at his palace in Garki area of Abuja.
The visit was part of the efforts being made by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, under the Honourable Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu, to uphold the NACTEST Mandate for a holistic approach to degrade the menace of Terrorism.
According to the Desk Officer, Ms Miriam Yakubu Ikunaiye, traditional rulers being the bridge between the government and the grassroots are critical stakeholders in counter terrorism.
“Therefore, courtesy visits and face-to-face engagements like this one, are steps necessary for effective and efficient information gathering.”
“And information fluidity, logistics and operational footprints can be designed through such visits for a robust and resilient community, not conducive for terrorists or ideological extremists” she added.
The traditional ruler of Garki in his speech lamented over the lack of armed palace guards, incessant kidnapping of school children and slow response time.
He said that the engineering of future wellbeing of humanity and peaceful coexistence will be through seamless collaboration and partnerships of security stakeholders.
