Fear Of Rejection: Labour Party Isn’t Prepared For The LG Polls In Anambra

Labour Party’s recent comments on the upcoming local government polls in Anambra have raised questions about the party’s preparedness and leadership in the state. It is important to note that the Labour Party has no clear leadership and outreach in Ndi Anambra. They should put their house, which has been dragged through the mud, in order before making statements regarding the polls.

The party’s lack of political structure and support base in Anambra remains the reason why they are not campaigning anywhere in the state for the upcoming polls. Additionally, the party’s internal challenges, including the inability to hold its national convention, further call into question its readiness to participate in the elections across the country.

It is crucial to note the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission’s (ANSIEC) commitment to conducting transparent and peaceful local government polls, which other political parties in the state have shown interest in participating. Given these factors, it is unwelcoming and, at the same time, laughable for the Labour Party to blackmail ANSIEC and other entities when it is facing internal issues and a lack of acceptability.

Since the party has failed to demonstrate a genuine commitment to building acceptability and engaging constructively in the electoral process, Ndi Anambra and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) will remain focused on the elections and will not be swayed by distractions from parties facing internal challenges and non-acceptability in Anambra state.
