Female POS Operator Sent To Prison Over Allegedly N2.2m Theft

The Nigerian Police operative at the Lion Building Division, Lagos Island, Lagos have arrested a  25 year-old female Point of Sale, POS Operator, Ganiyat Ajibawo and dragged her before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly fraudulently  converting the sum of N2,200,000 belonging to her employer, Olayinka Kadiku and fled.
The Defendant allegedly committed the offence when her boss gave her the money to transfer into her account but when the complainant checked her account and the money was not in the account.
Following the development, complainant reported the matter to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Lion Building Division who directed his men to fish out the fleeing POS operator.
The Police arrested the defendant at a hideout following a tip off.
The defendant, a resident of Odunlami Street, Lagos Island was charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos Island, Lagos on a count charge of stealing.
Police prosecutor, Reuben Solomon told the Court in charge marked P/14/2025 the defendant committed the offence on August, 15, 2025 at 83, Okesuna Street, Lagos Island, Lagos.
Solomon said the offence, the defendant committed was punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate Mrs N. Oseni Wahab granted her N200,000 bail with two surties in like sum.
Magistrate Wahab adjourned the case and ordered that the defendant be detained at the Kirikiri Correctional Facilities till they perfected the bail conditions.
