Assistant coach of Nigeria’s senior basketball national team Odaudu Ogoh has stated that Nigerian basketball senior male team, D’Tigers will be well tested and benefit from playing high profile international friendly against Canada.
He said that Canada friendly will be good for the 2019 FIBA World Cup bound Nigerian team because the Canadians have majority of their players playing in the NBA in the USA.
Ogoh said that his team have quality games to look forward to ahead of Nigeria’s participation at the FIBA World Cup in China.
He emphasised the friendly against Canada will be a big test, while another match line up for D’Tigers against the Dominican Republic, another World Cup bound team that will further open up the Nigerians to the feel of what to expect at the World Cup in China.
“Both of them are going to be at the World Cup too. Canada are a very good team with top players in the NBA. Dominican Republic I don’t know too well but we will do some works on them but they are also going to be at the World Cup.
“The ultimate thing is to get quality tests through top friendly matches before the World Cup. I believe that playing such high profile teams will help us a lot,” Ogoh told a Lagos sports radio, Brila FM.
Nigeria’s D’Tigers are drawn alongside Argentina, Russia and South Korea in the same group at the FIBA World Cup in China.
