The Nigerian sports community is buzzing with lots of positive vibes over the consecutive FIBA World Cup ticket achievement of the Nigeria female national basketball team D’Tigress last weekend.
Vice-president of Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Babs Ogunade was full of praises for the girls on their qualification for the FIBA World Cup slated for Sydney, Australia. According to Ogunade, the hard-won ticket was the result of hard work and dedication by the NBBF board and of course, a show of determination and resilience by the girls.
“We’re happy that our girls qualified for the FIBA World Cup coming up in Sydney, Australia. I’m particularly not surprised because that achievement was the result of selfless and concerted efforts of our board in the last four years,” he remarked.
“This qualification is a call for more serious and selfless work towards the continued growth of the game in Nigeria. I promise you, the Kida led the board of NBBF shall not relent in this regard,” Ogunade, a former Nigeria national basketball team player and African Basketball Hall of Famer, enthused.
Nigeria’s Pillar Of Sports, High Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike on his part, while congratulating D’Tigress for picking the FIBA World Cup ticket, was quick to admonish all stakeholders in the game to rally ranks and join hands with Engr. Musa Kida and his board for the betterment of the game in the country.
Former national basketball team star and NBBF board member, Ugo Udezue was all smiles, while describing the feat of D’Tigress as a refreshing breath of air for the game in Nigeria.
The South-East representative on the NBBF board said, “This feat, though hard-earned, came at the right time. I’m very happy and I must tell you that it’s the beginning of greater achievements for the country because the NBBF board would not relent in its efforts to take the game higher,” Udezue added.
