LUCKY LAWAL
The International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, Lagos Chapter, paid a courtesy visit to AIG Ahmed Iliyasu, the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.
FIDA Lagos State Branch, through its representatives, called for better relationship and cooperation between the Police and lawyers, especially FIDA, as they champion the cause of getting justice for women and children – arguably the most vulnerable people in the society.
In response, AIG Ahmed Iliyasu expressed his appreciation for the visit and also restated his commitment to a free and healthy society, which he claimed can never be achieved unless we all show maximum respect and commitment to the rule of law.
The AIG dismissed the myth of rivalry and disharmony between lawyers and the Police saying both should work hand in hand and assured representatives of FIDA that his door is always open to them.
