Former CNN Anchor Isha Sesay Returns To The Spotlight On Glo-Sponsored African Voices

Former Cable News Network International anchor and award-winning journalist, Isha Sesay, will this week return to CNN, not as an interviewer but as the featured guest on African Voices, the network’s 30-minute magazine program sponsored by telecommunications company, Globacom.

Widely respected for her distinguished career in broadcast journalism, the 50-year-old British Sierra Leonean was born on January 6, 1976. She joined CNN as a news anchor in 2005 after building an impressive career with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and Sky News, where she earned recognition for her outstanding reporting and presentation skills.

A graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge, United Kingdom, Sesay continued to rise through the ranks at CNN. In 2009, she became the host of the network’s weekly news program, International Desk, where she interviewed several prominent global figures, including former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and his successor, Late President Umaru Yar’Adua.

Her career at CNN also saw her contribute to Anderson Cooper 360° as presenter of the 360 Bulletin, a role she assumed on January 17, 2011. She was later appointed anchor of another flagship news program, CNN News Center, further cementing her reputation as one of the network’s leading broadcasters.

Beyond journalism, Sesay has devoted herself to empowering young girls across Africa. In 2014, she founded Women Everywhere Can Lead, an educational and humanitarian nonprofit organization that provides learning opportunities and support for girls, helping prepare them to become tomorrow’s leaders.

More recently, Sesay captured global attention after sharing her journey to motherhood, welcoming her first child through In-Vitro Fertilization, IVF, as a single mother. Viewers will hear her reflect on her remarkable career, her passion for advocating for girls, and her deeply personal experience with motherhood when she appears on African Voices on Saturday at 7.30a.m.

The program will be repeated at 11a.m. on the same day, while Sunday broadcasts are scheduled for 3.30a.m. and 6p.m. Additional rebroadcasts will air on Monday at 3a.m. and 5.45p.m., and on Tuesday at 5.45p.m. The same broadcast schedule will continue the following week, with Monday at 3a.m. slated for the final airing.
