The Commissioner of Police of the Anti-Fraud Department, FCIID, Alagbon, Lagos, CP Dan Nkem Okoro, has declared war on fraudsters and warned that it will not be business as usual for all their activities as his Command will decisively deal with and get rid of them across the country.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the police boss made the declaration at the Police Command Annex of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria, CRAN, Secretariat in Lagos during an interactive session with reporters cut across the media houses.

Okoro noted that the activities of fraudsters had dented the image of the country and they cut across virtually all sectors of the economy including oil companies, financial institutions, education, service providers, maritime, and others involving foreigners and locals. He said that the police were determined to end the menace and position the society better devoid of those forms of crimes.

CP Dan said that he had the mandate of the IGP in line with the anti-corruption posture of the present administration to stop the menace. He said the operation of the insiders will not be spared and any practice of fraudulent activities will face the full wrath of the law as he promised that their investigations will be thorough in order to gain convictions.

“I will investigate the activities of foreigners, individuals, and industries that had harmed the financial health of the country and bring them to book” he said.

He enjoined all Nigerians and the members of the press to key into the fight against fraud and fraudsters including other forms of crime and criminality to salvage the country.
CP Okoro was recently promoted to the rank of CP and was deployed to the Anti-fraud unit which had been in comatose over the years. He may have been positioned in the department by the police authorities for the task following his exploits in busting notable crimes when he was the Area Commander at FESTAC, Lagos. His successes earned him a National award and he was later moved to Special Fraud Unit, Milverton, Lagos, where he equally transformed the place before he was promoted and moved to Alagbon, Lagos.

He said that he was well equipped for the tasks ahead and assured that he will succeed with the cooperation of well meaning Nigerians.
The president of CRAN, Mr. Sunday Odita, thanked CP Okoro for deeming it fit to come for the interactive session and seek the support of the press in the fight against fraud. Mr. Odita assured him that the members of the association will give him every support to ensure that he succeeded and advised him to carry the press along in the areas of information gathering and dissemination for the overall interest of the society.
