From Buruj Sports Academy To Nigeria U-17: Raheem Salaudeen’s Journey Of Determination And Promise

Raheem Moyinoluwa Salaudeen’s football journey is a strong example of determination, discipline, and the rise of a new generation of Nigerian talent.

 

Raheem was first registered to the Nigeria Nationwide League (NLO) in 2021 with Buruj Football Club. It was a proud and memorable step in his development as a young player. During his first registration, Buruj played at Remo. Although he was on the bench and did not feature in the match, the experience was an important one. He also recalls the owner of Remo Stars coming to the pitch and seeing him alongside his teammate—one of the moments that strengthened his belief and motivation.

 

The Nigeria Nationwide League continues to be an important platform for young talents to develop and express themselves. In many countries, leagues at this level are already professional, and Raheem believes the NLO deserves recognition for creating opportunities for players to showcase their talent.

 

Raheem was discovered in 2023 at the age of 13, marking a major turning point in his football journey. He believes modern football rewards players who begin early and prepare themselves with focus and discipline.

 

His advice to young footballers is clear: start early, stay committed, and always balance football with education. For him, success is built not only through talent but also through discipline and learning.

 

Raheem also expressed gratitude to his parents for their constant support and sacrifices, as well as appreciation to the National Team for the opportunity to represent Nigeria. He also praised the younger players at Buruj Sports Academy who continue to follow the same path by making their debut at just 13 years old.

 

“Determination, commitment, consistency, and attitude matter a lot,” Raheem said.

 

Looking ahead to the U-17 level, Raheem Moyinoluwa Salaudeen and his teammates are focused on representing Nigeria with pride and leaving a memorable mark.

“Nigeria is a great nation,” he said. “Despite the challenges and inadequate facilities, we are blessed with natural talent that can compete anywhere in the world.”
