MICHAEL AKINOLA
Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate) was on March 6 decorated with yet another honour as United Nations-Sustainable Development Government Ambassador.
The music star, who celebrated his 61st birthday some days ago, was honoured by the Civil Society Coalition on Sustainable Development, (CSCSD) Ogun State Chapter at the International Stakeholders’ Conference On SDG held at the Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta.
According to the organisers, K1’s unquantifiable contribution to humanity through music was the criteria they considered in selecting the Fuji music icon for the honour.
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun was on hand to present the award and certificate to K1.
The governor extolled the virtues of the Fuji music king and said he’s deserving of the honour.
Also honoured at the event as UN Ambassadors were Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, the wife of Ogun State governor and prolific filmmaker Tunde Kelani among others.
The Civil Society Coalition On SDG has over 150 registered civil society and nongovernmental organizations under its fold in Nigeria and it is affiliated with United Nations.
