Gas Plant Explosion: Anambra State Govt Seals Petrol Station

The compassionate and people oriented tirelessly working SSA to Governor Willie Obiano on Petroleum and Union Matters, Snr. Comrade Peter Nwosu, has ordered the closure of a petrol station housing a cooking gas plant which exploded and went up in flames.

It will be recalled that the administrator of Dr. Willie Obiano through the office of the SSA on Petroleum and Union Matters had on several occasions made press releases and warnings on Anambra Broadcasting Service Radio and Television warning the operators of cooking gas plants in petrol stations across Anambra State to remove every gas plant which portends danger to the citizens.

Following a call that was put through to the people’s comrade about a Cooking gas explosion in a petrol station in Ogidi, he quickly swung into action while alerting other relevant government agency with the sole mandate of fire fighting.

Comrade Peter Nwosu, who visited to ascertain the extent of the damages which was caused by the cooking gas explosion, frowned at the non adherence to the several warnings which the state government through his office had been giving to petrol stations which housed cooking gas plants.

SSA on Petroleum and Union Matters to the Governor immediately ordered the closure of the petrol station pending the outcome of the investigation.

He also visited the victims of the inferno, who jumped from a nearby building, in a bid to escape the inferno and made a deposit of hospital bills amounting to N850, 000 at Iyienu Hospital Ogidi and St. Paul Hospital Nkpor, where they were undergoing surgery.

Comrade Peter Nwosu also sealed up three cooking gas plants in Nkpor and Ogidi while warning all petrol stations that had cooking gas plant to remove them with immediate effect as his office and that of Anambra State Physical Planning Board will not hesitate to demolish petrol station which had illegal cooking gas plant.
